This letter serves to confirm that South Africa has been a member of the International Group for Equestrian Qualifications (IGEQ) since 1996. It is on record with this body that the riding instructor qualifications at international levels one, two and three issued by the Equestrian Qualifications Authority of Southern Africa, formerly known as the SANEF National Instructors’ Plan, subscribe to the agreed minimum standards of this orgnanisation. Holders of these qualifications are entitled to be issued with an International Group Equestrian Passport which certifies their competence to the equitable levels of riding instructor/coach in the following countries:
Australia; Austria; Belgium; Bermuda; Canada; China; Croatia; Czech Republic; Denmark; Estonia; Finland; France; Germany; Greece; Hungary; Ireland; Israel; Italy; Latvia; Lithuania; Malawi; Malaysia; Mauritius; Mexico; Netherlands; New Zealand; Norway; Poland; Portugal; Palestine, Romania; Slovenia; Spain; San Marino, Sweden; Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
The International Group for Equestrian Qualifications has in place a Memorandum of Understanding with the international governing body for horse sport, the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) and the IGEQ passport has been officially recognised by the FEI since 2001.
