EQUESTRIAN QUALIFICATIONS AUTHORITY OF SOUTHERN AFRICA
PRESS RELEASE – 1st November 2016
Confirmation of the Legislative and Regulatory Framework for the Official Development of Qualifications and External Assessment Criteria for Equestrian Coach/Instructor/Trainer/Teacher in South Africa.
The Equine/Equestrian industry’s professional body, the Council of Equine & Equestrian Professionals of SA (CEEPSA), is recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) in terms of the National Qualifications Framework Act 67 of 2008.
The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO), who answers to SAQA, has mandated CEEPSA as the Development Quality Partner (DQP) for Equestrian Coach/Instructor/Trainer/Teacher qualifications.
The QCTO has also mandated the Equestrian Qualifications Authority of Southern Africa (EQASA) in terms of the Skills Development Act, Act No. 97 of 1998 as amended, to act as the recognised and delegated Assessment Quality Partner (AQP) for these qualifications.
Any confusion that may exist should be obviated in terms of the legal framework identified above.
EQASA, the Assessment Quality Partner, sets the national standards in consultation with identified stakeholders to ensure validity and consistency of external summative assessments.
In addition, these qualifications are recognised by the International Group for Equestrian Qualifications (IGEQ), of which EQASA is a member and will ensure that international best practice is applied.
